Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) has demanded that the government recognize the garment accessories and packaging industry as a direct exporter. Leaders of the organization say that despite directly exporting about $8.5 billion worth of goods, the government is considering this industry as a subsidiary sector. So now is the time to recognize the entrepreneurs of this industry as direct exporters.
Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association or BGAPMEA President Md. Shahriar made this demand to the government at the closing ceremony of two four-day exhibitions at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital on Saturday. Advisor to the Ministry of Labor and Employment M Sakhawat Hossain was the chief guest at the event. Former president of the apex business organization FBCCI MA Kashem also spoke. This information was given in a BGAPMEA release.
